How to Convert Multiple ECW Images to DDS?
1. Download and Install reaConverter
reaConverter is a standalone Windows app — download, install, and start converting ECW files in under two minutes. Apply image edits like resize, crop, or color adjustment while converting.
2. Load your ECW files
Launch reaConverter and drop in your ECW files. The software queues everything for batch processing with consistent settings.
Add files by dragging them in, browsing folders, or using the right-click menu from Windows Explorer.

3. Select DDS as output format
Pick DDS as output format and choose the destination folder where you want to save new .dds files.

4. Start ECW to DDS conversion
Then simply press the Convert button and your conversion will begin in no time!

Once the conversion is complete, you can find your DDS files in the destination folder you selected.
ECW to DDS: what carries over and what does not
ECW describes geometry rather than pixels, so it has no inherent resolution. The conversion renders it at whatever size you choose, and that choice is final: enlarging the DDS afterwards will not recover the sharpness. Set the output dimensions or DPI before converting, not after. ECW carries 16 bits per channel and DDS carries 8, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to an 8-bit format only at the very end.
