How to Convert Multiple FIT Images to TIFF?

2. Load your FIT files

What changes when you convert FIT to TIFF
FIT stores 32-bit greyscale covering the full dynamic range of the scan, and TIFF shows 8 bits. The conversion applies a window level, so what ends up visible depends on the window you choose. Decide separately whether patient metadata should be copied to the output or stripped from it. FIT carries 32 bits per channel and TIFF carries 16, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to a 16-bit format only at the very end.
