STEP to DXF: what to expect from the conversion

Converting STEP to DXF can produce two different files. With Create 2D projection switched off, the DXF receives the model itself as 3D geometry, which a CAD program can orbit and view from any side. With it switched on in the 3D formats loading settings, the DXF receives a flat view instead: isometric, top, front or side, with hidden edges dashed or removed. Neither version carries dimensions, a title block or section views, so treat the result as the start of a drawing rather than a finished sheet. Without further settings, a STEP assembly converts to a single DXF. With Load STEP as separated shapes switched on, each part becomes its own file instead, so one assembly fills a folder with one DXF per part.
