How to Convert Multiple EXR Images to JXL?
1. Download and Install reaConverter

2. Load your EXR files
Add EXR files to reaConverter. One file or a thousand, the process is the same. Everything runs locally on your machine.
You can drag-and-drop files, browse to a folder, or add entire directory trees including subfolders.
3. Select JXL as output format
Select JXL from the output format list and set your destination folder. You can also adjust quality and compression settings.
4. Start EXR to JXL conversion

EXR to JXL: what carries over and what does not
EXR carries 32 bits per channel and JXL carries 16, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to a 16-bit format only at the very end. EXR stores pixels without compression loss and JXL does not, so this is a one-way step. Choose a high quality setting, and avoid converting the same file back and forth, because each pass compounds the artefacts.
