How to Convert Multiple HEIF Images to DDS?
1. Download and Install reaConverter
reaConverter is a standalone Windows app — download, install, and start converting HEIF files in under two minutes. Apply image edits like resize, crop, or color adjustment while converting.
2. Load your HEIF files
Add HEIF files to reaConverter. One file or a thousand, the process is the same. Everything runs locally on your machine.
You can drag-and-drop files, browse to a folder, or add entire directory trees including subfolders.
3. Select DDS as output format
Select DDS from the output format list and set your destination folder. You can also adjust quality and compression settings.
4. Start HEIF to DDS conversion

Before you convert HEIF to DDS
HEIF carries 10 bits per channel and DDS carries 8, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to an 8-bit format only at the very end. HEIF and DDS both compress by discarding data, so this is a re-encode rather than a copy. The output is built from already-compressed pixels, and the artefacts of the first encode are carried into the second. Use a high quality setting, and convert from the original whenever you still have it.
