How to Convert Multiple NEF Images to STEP?
1. Download and Install reaConverter
reaConverter installs quickly on any Windows PC. No dependencies, no bloatware — just a clean setup that's ready to use immediately. Need edits? Resize, rotate, or add watermarks during conversion.
2. Load your NEF files
Launch reaConverter and drop in your NEF files. The software queues everything for batch processing with consistent settings.
Drop your NEF files into the window or use File menu to browse and select folders.

3. Select STEP as output format
Choose STEP for output and set your save location. reaConverter lets you customize quality and apply edits before conversion.

4. Start NEF to STEP conversion
Hit Convert and let reaConverter do the work. The progress window shows status for each file in real time.

After conversion, find your STEP files in the output folder. Click 'Show converted files' to open it directly.
NEF to STEP: what carries over and what does not
NEF files hold unprocessed sensor data, so white balance and exposure are still adjustable. Converting to STEP bakes those decisions into the pixels, and highlight recovery is no longer available afterwards. Set white balance and exposure before the run rather than after. NEF is made of pixels and STEP is a geometry format, so the two describe images in fundamentally different ways. Check the result before sending it downstream: what matters is whether the output contains editable geometry or a picture placed inside a STEP container, and that determines whether a CAD or design tool can work with it.
