How to Convert Multiple NEF Images to U3D?
1. Download and Install reaConverter
reaConverter is a standalone Windows app — download, install, and start converting NEF files in under two minutes. Need edits? Resize, rotate, or add watermarks during conversion.
2. Load your NEF files
Add NEF camera files to reaConverter. Import folders of RAW photos and process them all with consistent settings.
Use drag-and-drop, folder browser, or right-click conversion from Explorer.

3. Select U3D as output format
Select U3D from the format list. Fine-tune color space, compression, and quality before converting your RAW photos.

4. Start NEF to U3D conversion
Click Convert to start the batch. reaConverter processes files quickly and shows you the status of each one.

Once done, reaConverter shows a summary. Click 'Show converted files' to jump straight to your U3D output.
How NEF and U3D differ in practice
NEF files hold unprocessed sensor data, so white balance and exposure are still adjustable. Converting to U3D bakes those decisions into the pixels, and highlight recovery is no longer available afterwards. Set white balance and exposure before the run rather than after. NEF is made of pixels and U3D is a geometry format, so the two describe images in fundamentally different ways. Check the result before sending it downstream: what matters is whether the output contains editable geometry or a picture placed inside a U3D container, and that determines whether a CAD or design tool can work with it.
