How to Convert Multiple RW2 Images to STEP?
1. Download and Install reaConverter
reaConverter is a standalone Windows app — download, install, and start converting RW2 files in under two minutes. Built-in editing tools let you resize, crop, or watermark as you convert.
2. Load your RW2 files
Open reaConverter and add your RW2 files. You can load individual files, entire folders, or even nested subfolders.
Select RW2s from a folder or drag-and-drop them directly into the reaConverter window.
3. Select STEP as output format
Pick STEP as output format and choose the destination folder where you want to save new .step files.
4. Start RW2 to STEP conversion
Press the Convert button and reaConverter takes care of the rest. Processing time depends on file size and volume.
After processing, find all your new .step files in the output location. The log shows details for each conversion.
How RW2 and STEP differ in practice
RW2 files hold unprocessed sensor data, so white balance and exposure are still adjustable. Converting to STEP bakes those decisions into the pixels, and highlight recovery is no longer available afterwards. Set white balance and exposure before the run rather than after. RW2 is made of pixels and STEP is a geometry format, so the two describe images in fundamentally different ways. Check the result before sending it downstream: what matters is whether the output contains editable geometry or a picture placed inside a STEP container, and that determines whether a CAD or design tool can work with it.
