How to Convert Multiple PEF Images to ICO?
1. Download and Install reaConverter
Install reaConverter for fast PEF conversion. Quick setup, then you're ready to process entire photo shoots. reaConverter also includes editing tools: resize, crop, rotate, and more.
2. Load your PEF files
Open reaConverter and add your PEF files. You can load individual files, entire folders, or even nested subfolders.
Select PEFs from a folder or drag-and-drop them directly into the reaConverter window.

3. Select ICO as output format
Pick ICO as output format and choose the destination folder where you want to save new .ico files.

4. Start PEF to ICO conversion
Press the Convert button and reaConverter takes care of the rest. Processing time depends on file size and volume.

After processing, find all your new .ico files in the output location. The log shows details for each conversion.
What changes when you convert PEF to ICO
PEF files hold unprocessed sensor data, so white balance and exposure are still adjustable. Converting to ICO bakes those decisions into the pixels, and highlight recovery is no longer available afterwards. Set white balance and exposure before the run rather than after. ICO stores a limited palette rather than full colour, so the conversion has to reduce the number of distinct colours. Photographic content shows this as banding, while flat graphics and icons usually survive it untouched.
