How to Convert Multiple VSI Images to JPEG?

2. Load your VSI files

VSI to JPEG: what carries over and what does not
VSI carries 16 bits per channel and JPEG carries 8, so tonal steps get coarser during conversion. It shows up first in smooth gradients such as skies. If the result will be edited further, move to an 8-bit format only at the very end. VSI and JPEG both compress by discarding data, so this is a re-encode rather than a copy. The output is built from already-compressed pixels, and the artefacts of the first encode are carried into the second. Use a high quality setting, and convert from the original whenever you still have it.
